FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Many women come to this work feeling overwhelmed by conflicting health information and unsure where to begin. These are some of the questions that come up most often in my practice.

If you don’t see your question here, you’re always welcome to reach out or book a complimentary consult.

Getting Started

  • I primarily support women in midlife who are navigating digestive concerns, hormone shifts, fatigue, and other chronic symptoms that haven’t fully resolved with conventional approaches. Many of the women I work with are proactive about their health but still feel like something isn’t quite right.

  • If you feel like you’ve tried many things but just can't move the needle towards your health goals, this work may be a good fit.

My approach focuses on supporting the body at a foundational level, using functional lab testing to identify patterns and create a personalized path forward. Many clients appreciate having structured guidance rather than trying to piece everything together on their own.

  • The complimentary consult is a 20-minute conversation where we talk about what you’re experiencing, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping to improve.

You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of my approach. If it feels like a good fit, we can talk about next steps. If not, you’ll still leave the conversation with more clarity.

  • You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Many women begin this process simply knowing that something feels off but not understanding why. Our first step is reviewing your symptoms, health history, and goals so we can begin connecting the dots and identifying where your body may benefit from additional support.

  • The best way to find out is through the complimentary consult.

This conversation gives you the opportunity to share what’s been going on with your health, ask questions, and learn more about my approach. From there, you can decide whether working together feels like the right next step.

Working Together

  • Our work together begins with a comprehensive initial intake session where we review your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and any existing lab work.

From there, we create a personalized plan based on functional lab testing. Your protocol will include dietary and lifestyle shifts, as well as targeted supplement recommendations (when needed). Our follow-up sessions allow us to review progress, adjust recommendations, and continue supporting your body step by step.

  • This journey looks different for everyone. I offer 4–6 month 1:1 packages, and many clients make meaningful progress during that time.

Because restoring balance often happens in layers, some people choose to continue working together longer. Supporting the body in a foundational way takes time, and giving your body consistent support often leads to more lasting results.

  • Symptoms that develop over time often benefit from consistent support rather than quick fixes.

Working together over several months allows us to review patterns, evaluate labs, adjust dietary and lifestyle strategies, and support your body step by step as changes unfold.

Many clients find that having ongoing guidance helps them stay consistent and feel more confident throughout the process.

  • Food is foundational, but it’s not the only piece of the puzzle.

Stress, sleep and movement all influence how the body functions. Our work together looks at the full picture so recommendations feel balanced, realistic, and supportive of your everyday life.

  • Not at all.

My clients come from many different starting points. Some are already very health-conscious, while others simply know they don’t feel their best and want guidance on where to begin.

At the same time, progress does involve making supportive changes over time. My role is to help you understand which shifts will matter most for your body and guide you through implementing them step by step.

  • This is one of the most common concerns I hear.

The women I work with are often balancing careers, family life, and many responsibilities. My role is to help you focus on the changes that will make the biggest difference rather than trying to overhaul everything at once.

At the same time, meaningful progress does require some willingness to adjust habits. We will work together to implement those changes in a way that feels realistic for your life.

  • Many of the women I work with arrive feeling exactly that way.

They’ve tried changing their diet, taking supplements, or following advice they’ve found online, but can’t move the needle towards their health goals.

What I see most often is that the missing piece isn’t effort. It’s having a clear framework that looks at how digestion, blood sugar balance, hormones, and lifestyle patterns interact so we can better understand what your body may be asking for.

  • Supporting the body often involves adjusting habits related to food, stress, sleep, and daily routines.

Some changes may feel small, while others may take more intention and practice. My role is to help you understand why certain shifts may be helpful and guide you through implementing them step by step.

Rather than trying to change everything at once, we focus on the areas most likely to support your body and build from there.

Functional Lab Testing

  • I use a range of functional labs to help us better understand what’s happening beneath the surface. These may include genetics, stool analysis, food sensitivity testing, hormone panels, and environmental toxin testing.

A comprehensive blood chemistry panel is required for all clients, as it provides valuable insight into patterns related to blood sugar balance, nutrient status, inflammation, thyroid function, and overall metabolic health.

Additional testing is personalized and discussed together so everything feels clear and intentional.

  • Blood chemistry provides a broad snapshot of how the body is functioning.

Markers related to blood sugar balance, inflammation, nutrient status, thyroid patterns, and metabolic health can offer helpful insight into patterns that may be contributing to symptoms.

Looking at these markers through a functional lens helps us connect the dots and identify areas where the body may benefit from additional support.

  • In many cases, yes.

If you’ve had a comprehensive blood panel within the past 6 months, we can often review those results rather than ordering new labs. I’ll let you know if anything important is missing.

  • A comprehensive blood chemistry panel is required because it provides important foundational information about how the body is functioning. Additional functional testing will be recommended based on your health concerns and symptoms.

  • Functional lab analysis is used to identify patterns and trends that may guide foundational nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. These labs are not used to diagnose or treat medical conditions. My work is designed to complement, not replace, medical care.

Food, Supplements, and Nutrition

  • When appropriate, I recommend targeted, short-term supplementation to support specific needs. I use professional-grade supplements and I’m not affiliated with any supplement companies, so recommendations are always based on what I believe will best support your goals.

  • Many clients are surprised to discover new nourishing foods they genuinely enjoy, often without feeling deprived. Temporary food adjustments may sometimes be helpful while we investigate certain patterns, but foods are often reintroduced as the body becomes more balanced.

  • My approach focuses on nourishment rather than restriction. Sometimes temporary food adjustments are helpful while we explore certain symptoms, but the long-term goal is creating a way of eating that feels supportive, flexible, and sustainable.

  • Depending on your package, you may receive a 1-week meal plan. The larger goal is helping you feel confident making food choices on your own. I focus on teaching the how and why so you can continue supporting your health long after our work together ends.

  • Diet is an important piece of the puzzle, but it’s not the whole picture. You could be eating well and still feel off if stress and sleep aren’t supported. Our work together looks at the full picture so recommendations feel balanced and practical for your everyday life.

  • Weight loss isn’t my primary focus, but many clients notice natural shifts as digestion, blood sugar balance, and overall health improve.

Rather than counting calories, we focus on nutrient-dense foods and learning to tune into your body’s signals so changes feel supportive rather than forced.

Logistics and Payment

  • I don’t accept insurance, but some clients are able to use HSA or FSA funds for nutrition services. Coverage varies by plan, so I recommend checking directly with your provider.

  • I am a virtual practice. All sessions are conducted online through my secure client portal, Practice Better, which is HIPAA‑compliant and designed for healthcare practitioners.

Your video calls, protocols, lab results, messaging, and session notes are all housed within this private portal so everything related to your care is organized in one place.

Working virtually allows clients to receive personalized support from the comfort of their own home without needing to travel. Many of the women I work with appreciate the flexibility this offers, especially when balancing work, family, and other responsibilities.

Lab testing can still be completed locally when needed, and everything else, including dietary and lifestyle guidance, supplement recommendations, and follow‑up sessions, can be managed through the portal.

  • This work is highly individualized. Some clients need a shorter program with minimal testing, while others benefit from longer support and additional labs. Because there’s no one-size-fits-all path, pricing is discussed during your consultation so we can decide together what level of support makes the most sense for you.

  • My work is meant to complement, not replace, medical care.

As a functional nutritionist, I take a preventative, foundational approach focused on personalized nutrition and lifestyle support. Many clients find this work enhances what they’re already doing with their doctor and helps them feel more informed and supported along the way.

Gut Health and Hormones

  • Many women notice digestive changes during midlife.

Hormone shifts, stress, sleep changes, and long-standing gut imbalances can all influence digestion. Understanding these patterns can help guide more personalized nutrition and lifestyle support.

  • Yes. Digestion and hormones are closely connected.

The gut microbiome plays a role in how hormones are processed and recycled in the body. When digestion is supported and the gut environment is more balanced, many women notice improvements in energy, mood, and hormone-related symptoms.

  • Afternoon fatigue can have several contributing factors.

Blood sugar fluctuations, sleep quality, nutrient status, stress load, and digestive health can all play a role. Looking at these systems together often helps uncover patterns that may explain why energy dips occur.

  • Bloating can occur for many reasons, even when someone is eating a nutrient-dense diet.

Factors such as digestive enzyme function, gut bacteria balance, food sensitivities, stress levels, and eating patterns can all influence how comfortably food moves through the digestive system.

  • This is something many women experience.

Standard lab ranges are designed to detect disease states, but they don’t always capture early patterns that may influence how the body is functioning day to day.

Looking at labs through a functional lens can sometimes reveal trends that may help explain symptoms and guide more personalized nutrition support.

  • Functional nutrition focuses on identifying the underlying patterns that may be contributing to symptoms rather than only addressing symptoms themselves. By looking at foundational areas like digestion and gut health, blood sugar balance, hormones, nutrient status, and lifestyle factors together, we can better understand what the body may be asking for and create a personalized plan to support it.
